Cosmetic Dental Bonding An Inexpensive Alternative

Cosmetic Dental Bonding in Anaheim Hills is the affordable way to give you the smile you deserve, but not every dentist in Orange County has the experience and the skills to sculpt and mold the dental resin or materials that are used for cosmetic dental bonding.

Dr. Jack Ringer from Dental Cosmetics is an Accredited Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and prides himself on cosmetic dentistry.

Tooth bonding is an application used by Dr. Ringer to repair and restore teeth. Teeth bonding is quick, easy, and inexpensive and can help you smile again.

If you aren’t sure you want porcelain veneers, schedule a cosmetic dentistry appointment with Dr. Ringer as cosmetic dental bonding isn’t a permanent solution.

During your appointment, Dr. Ringer will talk about what you want your smile to look like and what you do and don’t like about your teeth and gums. Dr. Ringer will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums and take digital photos for a full evaluation. Bonding can resolve your teeth problems and is a good fit if you aren’t sure about porcelain veneers.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding Works and Can:

• Repair cracked of chipped teeth
• Improve the appearance of stained or discolored teeth
• Repair decayed teeth
• Close spaces
• Lengthen teeth
• Change tooth shape
• Fill cavities
• Provide root protection after gum recession
• Shorten teeth
• Replace amalgam fillings

If your teeth are badly damaged, Dr. Ringer may suggest other alternatives to cosmetic dental bonding such as porcelain veneers.

There are two types of cosmetic dental bonding, adhesive bonding, and direct composite bonding.

Direct Composite Bonding-is a cosmetic or restorative dental procedure that uses natural or white tooth colored composites. The materials are applied directly to the surfaces of your teeth and are sculpted into shape to match the rest of your smile. Dentists call these direct composite veneers, however, the procedure is most commonly known as bonding.

Adhesive Bonding-is used to attach teeth restorations to the tooth. This is normally used for inlays, onlays, bridges, porcelain veneers, and esthetic dental crowns.

What to Expect

The cosmetic dental bonding treatment requires little preparation and no anesthesia, unless you are having a cavity filled.

Before beginning the procedure, Dr. Ringer will choose a resin color that closely matches the rest of your teeth. Once chosen, the surface of the tooth or teeth that are to be bonded will be roughened up before a liquid is applied. The liquid helps the bonding material adhere to the tooth.

Dr. Ringer will then apply the resin before molding and sculpting. Once happy with the results, Dr. Ringer and his team will cure or harden the resin with a laser or light. After hardening, the tooth will be polished to match your smile.

Pros-Cosmetic Dental Bonding is very common and one of the least expensive cosmetic dentistry treatments. Cosmetic dental bonding can usually be completed in a single dental appointment. If more than one or two teeth are to be bonded, you may need a second dental appointment. Dental bonding requires no enamel removal and usually doesn’t require an anesthetic.

Cons-The resin used for cosmetic dental bonding is not as sturdy as your natural teeth. Bad habits such as chewing on ice, pencils, or fingernails can cause chipping. Bonding also only lasts about 5 to 7 years before repair is required. Cosmetic Dental Bonding is not as strong as dental crowns, fillings, or porcelain veneers. Dental bonding is also not as resistant to staining. If you love your red wine or coffee, you may want to consider a more permanent solution such as porcelain veneers.

Cosmetic dentistry has certainly changed over the years giving patients many treatment options. Cosmetic dental bonding is just one of those procedures that can make you smile again.
