All-on-4 vs. Traditional Implants: What’s the Difference?

Over their lives, a lot of people lose teeth. Your general quality of life can be impacted and serious health problems may arise from losing teeth. It can be difficult to go about daily tasks like eating and talking. Thankfully, though, there are a number of ways to get your smile back to looking and working like new.

Which method, though, is best for you?

Dental implants used traditionally are prosthetic tooth replacements. Their tiny screw-shaped design enables them to be placed straight into your jaw. Roots and all, dental implants replace the whole tooth. As such, a dental implant offers a tooth that is either absent or badly deteriorated a permanent restorative choice. For patients to eat, chew, and live properly, it restores jaw function.

An all-on-4 implant system replaces all of the teeth, upper or lower. Its name comes from the fact that just four dental implants, placed into the jawbone, provide permanent anchoring. Because All-on-4 replaces a whole dental plate, it works best for individuals who have significant decay on several teeth or are missing several teeth.

What are the advantages of implants placed all on four?

1. You just need one operation: The new replacement teeth and artificial roots are placed on the same day, thus several procedures are not necessary. Osseointegration does not require you to wait for the jawbone to unite around the implant. This implies that your jaw function and tooth attractiveness will be much enhanced in just one visit.

2. Bone grafting is hardly ever needed: Bone grafting is the process of moving tiny pieces of bone to a different part of your jaw so that conventional dental implants may be positioned correctly. Many times, this procedure prolongs the duration of the treatment.

With All-on-4 implants, thankfully, bone grafting is not often necessary. At Bloor West Smiles, there’s no need for a bone graft because we position the All-on-4 implants in the largest part of your jaw.

3. Usually more reasonably priced than conventional implants: An All-on-4 implant costs less than replacing each broken tooth separately. Getting several conventional dental implants requires time and money. All-on-4 is, therefore, more reasonably priced if you have a lot of missing or damaged teeth.

4. Returns normal jaw function: Restoring normal jaw function is possible with all-on-4 implants. They fasten to your jawbone so you can chew and consume without any problems.

Conversely, patients with traditional dentures still need to watch what and how they eat. Moreover, it might be somewhat difficult to chew with a missing or broken tooth.

5. Enhances appearance: It can be rather detrimental to your confidence to have missing teeth. Your jaw and face structure can change after you lose a tooth. Teeth that sink, speech problems, and jaw degradation are other possible symptoms.

You can laugh and grin without hesitation after an All-on-4 implant improves the appearance of your mouth.

6. Perfect for everyone who requires several tooth replacements: For anyone needing several tooth replacements, All-on-4 implants offer the major benefit of replacing the complete upper or lower dental plate. All-on-4 is your best choice if you are missing some or all of your teeth.

if you’re not sure which implant procedure is best for you. Your dentist evaluates your situation as it is right now and suggest the ideal individualized treatment strategy.
