Effects Of Christmas On Your Teeth

Christmas Day is this Friday and if you are spending time with family and friends, there are some things that Dr. Ringer and his staff from Dental Cosmetics in Anaheim Hills would like to share.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer has been charming people for decades; however, most folks have no idea that Santa’s favorite was actually the brainchild of copywriter Robert L. May who was hired by Montgomery Ward in 1939 to write a compelling short story that would boost business. Radio producer and songwriter Johnny Marks, who also happened to be Mr. May’s brother in law, liked the tune so much he wrote a song about it that was later recorded by Burl Ives in 1949.

Another favorite character associated with Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, was also created to increase sales for whiskey back in 1890. After prohibition, other alcohol companies got into the act using Frosty’s likeness to sell everything from Schlitz beer to Chivas Regal.

Artificial Christmas trees have out sold real Christmas Trees for the past 20 years; however, artificial Christmas trees are certainly not new. Back in the 1600’s, the Germans would use dyed goose and duck feathers to craft artificial trees.

Santa Claus is always seen in a red suit, however, when Santa first appeared on the scene hundreds of years ago, he was dressed in green, white and blue. Fast forward to 1930 when Coca Cola came up with the brilliant idea of dressing Jolly Old St. Nick in red and white holding a bottle of coca cola. The rest as they say is history.

Every year more than 20,000, “Rent a Santa’s,” hit the streets all across the United States. These Santa’s take pride and place at shopping malls, private parties and other events to grant kids all over America their Christmas wish. These same Santa’s go through seasonal training in order to maintain the infectious laugh and jolly attitude that goes along with being Santa. Other practical advice is also given to the, “Rent a Santa’s,” that includes saying no to gifts and avoiding onions and beans for lunch.

Dr. Ringer and his entire staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year, and don’t forget to call or click and schedule your annual checkup in January.
